Obstacle 27. The Elven Hour
The elven hour upon his tower had crystallized long long ago and still they remained. The elves never die but they cannot multiply. They share their power from a central source and protect it as it navigates their course through the void of space. Just past the human race…
The diamond king awakens from his nights sleep and festivities. Hungover, a new proximity. The pain of it makes him smile and then laugh. Like a child. Finally. I feel alive again. I must have more of this melody… this mystery….
He walks his grounds his castle perfect in every way and the people who work it know just what to say and do and think. There isn’t anything out of sync. But something is inside him still that he cannot fill. He’s walking to the alter to pray upon the father for an answer to this bother.
That’s when it happens.
The snap of expectation. A singular thing out of place in time and space. Just as it shouldn’t be and there standing next to it. That thing. That creature. No. It couldn’t be? Does the universe know mercy? How many times have I tried? How many times have I failed to find it. I must know. I must have it. I’d all but given up. I’d relented. I’d decided to revel till the end. Till the clock struck destruction. But this… It' couldn’t.
I’d planes walked all infinity I thought. I collapsed so many. Nothing. Nothing worked. How, mocking me? Why do I suddenly feel so angry? All those lives. All those lives!? How could it do this to me!?
No! I must focus. I must find my purpose. No, not find. I know. I am perfect and perfection finds itself. Doth the wheat not rise to the top? They roll about in the chaff that is Feralis’ domain but they’d be insane to keep. Nature demands they rise and meet me. I cannot wait. I must maintain. I must collide.
His eyes lock onto Tye’s and he makes a decision. A hunt is to be made. To find this woman who has invaded his head space and brought him life again. Maybe he can take it from her and give it to them.
Save them from the sterile times and war rhymes. He’ll do it. Just one sacrificial offer should do it. This pleases him in a way he cannot say and again there is a new light of day that seems to be making its way into everything around them. It abounds with them. The realm is coming to life again. It was robotic and unconscious for so long.
Now they’ve found this new song to dance to. It is paramount they snatch her and take from her the flame that is enacting all this mischief…
“I am the Diamond King.” He says to the crowds below. Noble and Servant alike. Soldier to slave to lesser. “Time is Mine.” He proclaims as they all cheer. The parade before him a mad conglomeration of elves and their equipment. Their achievements. They’re lessors and familiars. Slaves and pets and monsters.
“Let the hunt begin!” He cries as he blows into a horn into the sky and out from it shatters barriers protecting realities from realities.
“I have seen and I will take. Then we will make us more!”
