Obstacle 31. Paige
The atmosphere in the olcan tribes village is electric. Everyone is humming and buzzing. Their coats all standing on end. Static shock from any metallic object seems to be an eventuality. The power thats accumulated has become so dense it’s begun to manifest to the taste buds. Chalk, heavy, with a hint of iron…
It’s felt in its manifestation in thicker growing coats and strength and stamina unfelt in many years and only by those who knew life prior to the demon’s attack. It has resulted in many minor accidents interacting with tools and objects requiring control of one’s strength.
The smoldering wreckage that was the guest house still billows an unnatural black smoke. As the sun peaks past the Olcan monument to Lady Nebula’s, chiseled into the marble cliffs surrounding the bay, left eye to signal the start of a new day. At this monument’s base the left foot sits what is the Olcan clans estate.
The true Olcan House’s estate door is carved out into the toe of her lady. It is a tunnel delving into a marbled walled fortress designed to withstand the entire ire of the old Moria’s wrath if need be. Thus why they’ve been able to hold out as long as they have against this demon’s siege of a curse.
The village built of more traditional material sits just outside it and the walls built around that encircle it from heel to heel. Which meet to the base of the marble cliff face.
It is said it took Feralis an eon to build up enough soil to bring about the beginnings of the oasis she sought to create. The dense jungle that exists upon it now and over growing the once great city is new, having been cleared for the construction and reclaimed upon its destruction. An unkept garden overgrown past its bounds overrun by thorny weed vines strangling all it comes into contact with.
The mightiest of beasts living within her oasis were not the Olcan. No, they merely lived above the water line. Her Oasis went dead into the earth and under the water. The cold blooded nature of the crocodilian creatures did not interest the demon. Ignored them completely, 350 million years might as well be a billion and she’d played with these reptilians enough.
So the society beneath the waves while frozen did begin thaw unscathed. For they persisted as always on every plane. That white Crocodile being high in nature and slow in civilization. Banished to the perimeter. Living off the scraps. Did indeed attack the wrong human and became another victim. It’s just that these crocodiles are more than just wild and vengeance is a word well within their tongue. If it be best served cold then there it’s in their blood.
“My lady for you have awaken. It would seem a child of scale has been slain by one of these bipedal land walkers. They fear the water and that they should for our wrath is a tidal wave.” The crocodilian eye glistens as it twitches here and there. Seeing everything so finely as only something so utterly evolved could.
“It is cold that holds us bound, it is the cold that will melt away. For there is a fire in our hearts and it breaths flames. We are still alive. Always. We survive.” The reptilian creature states aloud within its mind. Beneath the bubbling solid land it left behind. “For power is pouring like a faunt and everything is coming together again.”
Breaking from its crystalllis a defence against the demons kiss. The Alpha of their time. He who is Prime. Steps lightly onto the shores under the Oasis’s ocean floor. Walking into a crocodilian kingdom. He can walk on two legs strong they are. They’ll carry him far, four limbs is for dashing and scrambling, climbing, scratching.
He must break these crystalline tombs that hold his people to grow an army for his steeple. Hundreds, no thousands, can be brought to arms. The might of the cold blooded champions who survive all. We are the tail you grow from and the teeth you fear. My eyes peer out my stout draws near. For I am the king of the Crocodilians and I hunger…
So he claws away digging in madness to find something. Someone. A new day a new light. Someone new with which to fight. They have spent 350 million years experimenting. What should they have found to fight this new plight?
It is when he breaks her free. From this crysicliys, from time abound. This egg will hatch and she will be found. I name her Paige. For it is turned on a new age. Crocodile we came from but more we became…
