Obstacle Two. Vegas Fun
They were drooling when we found them. Passed out as if they came from another space time and place. I wonder if they’re okay? Must have drank too much. Anyway, no love lost in sin city trips… those are the thoughts of the people who walk past our crew in the airport. They’re in their chairs passed out as if partying had finally caught up to all of them. Good thing the law has come to found them…
“Excuse me guys, if you’re not flying anymore you’re gonna have to leave.” The officer states.
“Uhhhshhdhdb” Tye replies. Then whiplash!
“Holy shit! I’m back what the fuck happened?” Tye screams jumping to his feet. “My head?! They didn’t put snakes into it did they?” He freaks.
“Calm down son calm down. I don’t know what your on but I’m sure we can handle this civilized like.” The cop states. Then leans into his walkie talkie “I’ve got a case here. Uh possible drugs.”
“Oh shit no!” Tye exclaims “we were just boozing. Sorry. Long story I’ll try to get them all together.”
“Yeah, you do that. Or I’ll have you spend the night in jail.” The cop replies. He’s either way about all this.
“Guys guys wake up!” Tye is smacking everyone’s faces. Their grogginess is falling away. The haze is gone and not too long they’re back to themselves.
“What the hell?” Corin asks aloud.
“….” Brent.
“Arghhhh… my head feels like mush…” Locke complains.
They’re all dressed in Vegas gear and have accompanying Vegas memorabilia in their luggage bags they now possess. A gift package if you will.
“Were am I?” Nora asks herself. She feels different. Strange. She’s human somehow and she’s got these shackles on her wrists. They’re draining her either. Her ability to do magic. They’re not obnoxious they’re more like jewelry. She just can’t take them off. She’s been collard herself it seems.
“I know this airport. We’re not that far from home. How the hell… ya know what? Let’s just go home.” Tye states having gone through a range of emotions.
They all agree. Nora needs some convincing as they pull her along in the group. They have their day after walk through the airport. Tye uses his phone to call a car to have them picked up.
As they wait by the curb Nora is in awe of everything she sees. Planes landing and flying away. The buildings and the cars and everything of modern man in full display. She’s beside herself. She’s like a kid in a candy shop. She’s literally on an alien planet. Advanced science.
“What is all this?” Nora asks she’s overwhelmed.
“Don’t worry, it’s just the airport. People travel through here. Those are planes. They fly us to places we want to go. We pay for them and go. We live in a free country. A free society. So anyone can do as they please so long as they follow the rules.” Corin tries to explain.
Locke is lagging behind his head still is trying to get back together. He’s feeling under the weather. Tye is into himself listening in waiting for his car service to get here. Brent is playing with the birds. They’ve landed on him and around him as per usual. He’s like a magnet for animals. Sadly he wasn’t able to bring those little guys back with him from the other place. He’s a bit sad about it. He’s gonna miss that turkey Bob.
“Yeah, and our ride is late as per usual. Traffic sucks. Get used to it. Also, don’t go into the street without looking both ways you’ll get run over.” Tye adds in.
“Oh yeah, don’t go into the paved roads. They’re for vehicles. You don’t wanna die right?” Corin replies.
“They’ll kill me if I go into the street?” She withdraws.
“No I mean, they won’t but you might accidentally get hit by something see.” Corin jumps back and forth between the street and the curb. Runs out a little bit. Gets honked at by a car and someone yells at her.
“Hey man, why are you still a woman?” Tye asks brashly.
“What?” Corin looks at herself. “I am still a girl.” She faints
“Oh brother.” Tye rolls his eyes as Brent lumbers over and picks Corin up. The vehicle has arrived and now they’re loading into it. It’s a large black van runner. The Lancaster’s have some nice vehicles to
Pick up people when needed.
“You know what this means right?” Tye exhales.
“No I don’t” Nora replies.
“No im talking to Locke and Brent. You see, my dad is the devil. He’s gonna know I’m back in town and from Vegas. He’s gonna know you’re here. I don’t know how much he’s gonna know but he’s gonna know about you now.” Tye explains.
“Arghhhhh” Locke complains.
“Damn dude, you really messed yourself up back there huh? Felt cool didn’t it?” Tye states sarcastically
“Ahhhhh.”” Locke replies.
“Yeah hopefully that passes. I wonder if the driver has some aspirin?” Tye states before banging on the window separating them from the drivers side compartment. It slides open
“Hey you got any aspirin up there?” Tye asks
“Of course young Lancaster. What’s it for?” The driver asks.
“A really bad headache.” Tye replies.
“I’ve got just the thing. Here, we’ll mix this with this. A little bit of that and an aspirin. Tell him to plug his nose when he drinks it. It’s got a hell of a kick.” The driver laughs handing him a cup filled with a concoction of tonic and a pill of aspirin.
“Okay okay, whatever, thanks bro.” Tye replies taking it and shifting over to Locke “hey man, drink this and pop this and plug your nose. You’ll feel better after.” Tye tells Locke.
Locke does as instructed. He seizes. Shakes and collapses. Transforming back into a girl again. But now she wakes without the splitting headache and mushy brain.
“Ugh…. What happened?” Locke asks.
“Well that’s not good news.” Tye observes.
“What?” Locke asks then realizes he’s transformed back into a girl again. “Damnit!”
“Haha, loser. I woulda beat that thing easy you suck.” Tye admonishes throwing scraps of what he can find at Locke.
“Stop it already Tye I get it you’re jealous the gods thought I am the superior fighter. Boo hoo. You know it’s not about that.” Locke replies.
“Then what’s it about?” Tye shoots back.
“It’s about you and me. Who’s better. Doesn’t matter what else happens it’s one vs one.” Locke replies back.
“Damn right and ima beat the shit outa you this time I promise.” Tye replies back excitedly.
“Yeah whatever. If I remember a single chapter of what I wrote I’m pretty sure I’d kick your ass.” Locke replies.
“See that’s just it. You’re an idiot.” Tye shoots back
“What do you mean?” Locke replies.
“You already know the moves… I don’t know how to explain this to you a book just hold knowledge idiot. I can’t spell it out for you any clearer.” Tye states.
“I don’t understand.” Locke admits pushing her glasses back to her face.
“You know you’re kind a hot right now…” Tye admits.
“Blow me.” Locke shoots back flatly before leaning back and looking out the window.
“I don’t know. That sounds kind a enticing right now.” Tye laughs out loud. Hahahahaahaha
Nora is still shell shock with all of this. She’s looking out the window and seeing modern civilization pass her by as they travel into the heart of the city to the house on campus grounds. They reach the house in a half hours drive.
They all get out. Corin is still passed out and Brent carries her into the house. Nora straggles behind. She looks up to the sky and its night time. The stars are all different. There is only one moon and it is full. Beautiful. Magnificent.
“This really is a different world.” She states to herself.
“Different reality.” Tye chortles as he pulls her into the home. “So we don’t actually have an extra room for ya but since Corin seems to be stuck like that it seems fitting you two share your room together.”
“What?” Nora asks him again.
“Well me, Locke and Brent are guys naturally but Corin seems to be a girl instinctively. So we all agree she’s gonna host you in her room upstairs.” Tye finishes.
“I’m not your pet I’m your summoner. You literally have to do what I tell you to.” She replies.
“Uh, not at the moment. I think with those bands on your wrists you can’t tell me squat. Now I’ve gotta figure out how much time we’ve lost and get going on my education. Bills and stuff we’ll check in on you two when Corin wakes up.” Tye finishes and he shoos them upstairs. Locke carries Corin to her bed and unceremoniously drops her onto the futon.
“It isn’t much just yet but I’m sure Tye will bank for anything you need Nora. Don’t be too upset. We’ll figure things out I’m sure.” Locke tells her before leaving them in the room alone. She shuts the door behind her.
Now it’s just Nora and a sleeping Corin. A tv and video game device. To fidget with. I wonder if she’ll figure it out before Corin can wake up?
